🎂 One Year of Newsletters

Time flies when you're having fun. Writing the Bluesky Directory newsletter is always fun!

✉️ This issue marks the one-year anniversary of the newsletter. A lot has changed in that time, so I thought it would be a good time for a little recap...

The first edition went out to nearly 700 subscribers, whilst this edition will go out to over 3700 subscribers. Thank you for being one of them, especially if you also received the first edition.

📈 We had listed just 49 products in the directory, a number that has now grown to 312.

Users

User growth continues as a solid pace, for a while it was exponential. One year ago we had about 21M accounts, and recently just passed the 40M mark. That's close to 100% annual growth rate.

We were not displaying user profiles on the directory at that time, but now have built robust functionality to find new users to follow.

Starter Packs, Feeds & Lists

A year ago, we'd discovered about 84K starter packs. More existed but, discoverability was a problem. We've not grown the database of starter packs to over 324K.

We started with around 14K lists, and have since built our database to over 304K

Feeds were not part of the directory a year ago, but we have now added over 108K.

We had 200 labelers, and have now grown to 372.

Whilst the growth of Bluesky and therefore this Bluesky Directory, has been fantastic to see over the last year, we feel like there is still a long way to go.

The directory website has had over 3.6M visitors since it's launch just over a year ago, and continues to be a great way to find anything related to the Bluesky and AT Protocol ecosystem.

We look forwarding to see how things are progressing next year. 😀
